Every day, it seems like MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role playing games) like Runes of Magic are getting more and more popular. You know the games, where you first create your customized character and then go on to complete missions, explore dungeons and fantasy lands, and kill hundreds of monsters to get stronger and more experienced. What is it that makes these games so appealing? Could it be the freedom we feel when we immerse ourselves in these virtual fantasy worlds?
Runes of Magic is another of these games that, with the exception of a few novel innovations, follows the classic role playing game formula. It is quite similar to the game that pioneered this genre, World of Warcraft: orcs, elves, and all sorts of fantasy creatures make up this fantasy universe as well.
The advantage of Runes of Magic over other role playing games like WoW is, of course, that it’s free to play. However, the graphics quality is rather outdated if you consider how powerful computers are these days, and the game services have been known to lag on occasion in ways that can make for a poor gaming experience.
